I unzipped the Goodwin module files and copied them to the Bibleworks databases subdirectory. Bibleworks recongizes that it is there (it shows up under “resources”), but it is not reading the file (I get a “This program cannot display the web page” message). I am having the exact same problem with other user-created modules I have downlaoded from here. What did I do wrong? I’m sure it is something simple.

I sure appreciate the user materials. I would love to see more commentaries - especially, Adam Clark, Gill and others that use the languages and give background insights.

Just a note to let you know that I have had no trouble moving all my databases into version 8.0! Thanks for all the hard work!

I transferred the “Canons of the Council of Orange” files from BW7 to BW8. I unblocked them and changed the category in the .chd file to “Confessions”. When I go to BW “Resources” and click on “Confessions,” I see “Canons of the Council of Orange” on the list, but when I click on it I get the BibleWorks message: “The resource file “Canons of the Concil of Orange” is installed but it has not been activated. Would you like to activate it now?” If I click “No,” of course nothing opens up. If I click “Yes,” I see the list of all the databases for which the user needs to pay extra, which I have already activated. “Canons of the Council of Orange” is not in that list, because it is a user database. So, why does BW8 not open it, since it cannot be activated?
Has anyone else had this problem?

I’ve unzipped the module to the databases subfolder, but Bibleworks is not recognizing the module. When I right click on the CHM file and go to properties, there is no “block” box for me to check or uncheck. Any ideas on what’s going on?

(I’m using Bibleworks 6; is this perhaps an issue?)

HTML Modules only work within BW in BW7+.

I would also like to see Adam Clark, Gill and others.

I add my two cents to the suggestions about the commentaries of Adam Clarke and/or John Gill.
They were 18th century giants who produced commentaries rich in background material. Who will step up and make them available to BW users?

On the ESV critique…
Dear Mortals (NRSV),
Thanks for enlightening everyone. I was amazed by your incredible insights, especially nailing the ESV for bowing down to conservatives who need to grow up and adhere to a gender inclusive pedagogy that you have laid to bare.
Would you go so far as to say that the ESV engages in “hate-speech”?
Regardless, thanks again for you unbiased commentaries.

@ Comet: Huh? Oh, you must be referring to the “Improving the ESV” module. We at the BW Blog had nothing to do with that module. We simply posted it because it was an example of what could be done, and there are those out there who just may find the module useful.
On a personal note, I have plenty of reservations about the non-gender inclusive language of the ESV (not to mention the general feeling of “biblish” throughout), but I use it regularly for personal Bible reading (because I found a really nicely leather bound sewn-binding copy for a good price).

I have installed the Codex Bezae.I have tried the first version and the second version. In both cases when I click on Resoureces > Manuscripts > Codex Bezae Greek or Latin I see a message “Se canceló la navegación a la página web. Puede intentar lo siguiente: Volver a escribir la dirección.” (in English: The navigation to the web page has been cancelled. You can try to write again the URL). And when afterwards I click on any page, I get a message saying that the URL is not valid?
Anybody could help and tell me where is the problem? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Michael Hanel.
As you suggested I had missed step 3. In fact, I had not seen anywhere the setup instructions. It works know.

@Pere, that info had been in the comments. I was hoping you’d see it there, but now I moved it to the top of the post so it’s more visible.

I’m using a Win machine, but I have students with Macs running BW8 under emulation. When they can’t get the modules to work, I’m clueless.
Can someone please give some Mac-specific step-by-step directions for adding modules? Thanks.
